7 Fun Louisville Summer Camps for 2017

Louisville, KY schools are out for the summer! You know what that means, it’s time to pick out a summer camp. Whether your kid is athletic, artsy or a social butterfly, there’s a camp that’s just right for your child. Level Up Lou has rounded up a few that might be a good fit – Including one of our own.


Level Up Lou Summer Camp for Littles!
June - July, ages 5 and up

Our art meets yoga summer camp is perfect for the kiddo with lots of energy and lots of creativity. Camp will be led by Lauren Dahl, a public school art teacher and teacher of our popular watercolors classes. She’ll have two teacher’s helpers for lots of one-on-one attention. From oil pastels to flower pots, you child can look forward to a fun-filled day.


Kentucky Shakespeare Summer Camp
June 5 - July 29, ages 4 and up

If your family eagerly awaits the annual Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, your child will love the Kentucky Shakespeare summer camp! The camp will take the young Shakespeare lover in your life on a exploration of the theatre arts that includes play, visual arts, storytelling and more.


Hwang’s Martial Arts Summer Camp
May - August, ages 3 and up

Hwang’s was the first martial arts school in the area to roll out a full summer camp. Your child will grow in strength and discipline through the art of Taekwondo and experience a weekly field trip. They offer several sessions throughout the summer at all three of their locations.


Kentucky Science Center Summer Camp
May - August, pre-K - 10th grade

Calling on Neil Degrasse Tyson fans! “School’s Out Science Camp” by the Kentucky Science Center is out to pack as much science fun as possible into your kid’s summer vacation. Activities are age-based, so your youngest might spend the day learning about dinosaurs while your older child geeks out on robotics.


Kentucky Humane Society Summer Camp
July 3 - 7, ages 6-11

The Kentucky Humane Society is entering into its 30th year of “Lifelong Friends Camp.” Your child with get hands-on time with cuddly, loving shelter animals, learn how to properly care for a pet and become an ambassador of the Humane Society. There will also be games and guest speakers.


YMCA Camp Piomingo
June - August, ages 6 - 16

Although, not technically in Louisville, sleepaway camp can create a lifetime of memories. For 75 years the YMCA’s Camp Piomingo in Brandenburg, KY has been providing adventures for your young ones. Older kids can even return at 16 for future counselor training. Don’t forget to remind your kid to send you a postcard or two!


Turnip the Beet Summer Camp
June - August, ages 7 - 14

If your kid has been whipping up dishes in the kitchen since they were tall enough to turn on the stove, Turnip the Beet’s summer camp should be on your summer menu. Each week has a different theme like “My Own Restaurant” and “Cupcake Wars.” You kid will up their kitchen skills and make some sweet new pals too.
